The gingerbread house kits I have lovingly weighed out and packaged up over the years have been very popular and I have really enjoyed seeing all the photos on Instagram – from the sweet toddler decorated ones to the Bake Off worthy show stoppers, there’s just something magical about a homemade gingerbread house!
This year, with finances the way they are for many people, I thought I’d turn the kit into a download too. So for the bargain price of £1.49 this download has the recipe you’ll need, the template and also the illustrated instructions with troubleshooting notes. I’ve made this house many many times, as have lots of others over the years. It’s really fun, whether you’re making it alone, or with kids. I’ve had a fair few companies set it as a team working exercise too.
To use the download, ideally you’ll need a printer, (though at a push you could trace the house shapes from a screen),
Ingredients you’ll need: butter, golden syrup, soft dark sugar, plain flour, bicarbonate of soda, ground ginger, Royal icing sugar, chocolate buttons, sweets to decorate.
Kit you’ll need: Printer and paper, weighing scales, non stick baking parchment, rolling pin or a smooth bottle, knife, spoons, measuring teaspoon, scissors, saucepan, bowl, jug/pint glass, baking trays, cooling racks, oven, hob, fridge, icing bag/sandwich bag, sieve/tea infuser (optional).
